Aspirations seem so important while you're in the moment, but in hindsight they can seem completely irrelevant.
When I was young I aspired to be a proffesional footballer, then a cyclist, then a photographer and currently a designer. With each different career choice came a different set of inspirations:
While dreaming of becoming a footballer, I aspired to play at Wembley for both England and Chelsea and looking up to players like Dennis Bergkamp, Gianfranco Zola and Ian Wright.
Then when I became an aspiring photographer I dreamt of having my work exhibited at The London Photographers Gallery and looking up to brilliant photographers such as Josef Koudelka and Brassai.
Once I decided I wanted to be a designer, I aspired to be featured in a magazine such as Eye Magazine and became influenced by the various designers featured and their editors including Eye Magazine.
So with each different aspiration came a different collection of influences, set by the leading establishments within the field of that particular aspiration. But how do we get from A to B?
I'm collecting data about how your aspirations have changed, what affected these choices and whether there are any links between your different aspirations. Perhaps at 5 years old you wanted to be a princess but now your working at becoming a director, but who and what effected these choices? Share your aspirations today.
